The Clematis 'Warszawska Nike'

The golden coloured flower dust patches form a great contrast to the flowers. The Warszawska Nike woodland vine is summer-green. It grows bushy to an impressive height of 2 to 4 metres.
Support your clematis as it grows
In order for the clematis to grow tall, it needs climbing aids in the form of trellises or pergolas. Clematis 'Warszawska Nike' is a large, flowery, summer-green climber with a robust, upright habit. The leaves are composed of oval, medium-sized petals. It flowers profusely in June and July and then again in September and October with large velvety, star-shaped, purple-purple flowers. Clematis 'warszawska nike' prefers a sheltered spot in full sun, but with the feet in the shade, well-drained soil. This late flowering clematis is very hardy, attracts butterflies and bees and is suitable for walls, trellises or pergolas. Plant the clematis deep, 10 cm deeper than the root ball, because of the wilt disease that can especially affect the above-ground stems. Plant the clematis in loose garden soil with plenty of organic material. We don't all have good soil, but you can simulate this by giving them extra care.

To protect the roots of the clematis from bright sunlight, it is advisable to plant a ground cover, vinca or iberis, around the clematis. Clematis should be planted about 5 cm deeper than the plant was in the pot it was delivered in. This will allow the plant to form underground buds, which can be useful in the event of a disease attack
