The Vaccinium macrocarpon Pilgrim delights gardeners above all with its bright red berries, which provide colourful accents in the cool season. The cranberry is hardy and grows densely bushy in the ground. The ground cover is very popular for adding structure to the garden. The cranberry is planted as a pond border or as a bedding plant. The red berries grow from September to October - it is worth the wait because you can even eat the fruit. Cranberries, as they are better known, are considered true vitamin bombs. Dry the red fruits and use them in the kitchen for salads or mash, for example. You can also use the fresh fruits and squeeze them as juice or make compote from them. As fresh cranberries are very sour when raw, the berries need to be juiced. All in all, a healthy and evergreen variety that should not be missing in your garden!
